In order to manage your projects in a transparent and efficient way in line with the existing capacities of your organisation and across the entire project period you will learn how to apply the basics of successful project management such as the planning of timelines and resources in Planisware.

Project planning and scheduling …

For this purpose you will apply classical project management tools such as project structure planning, network planning techniques and Gantt charts. You will apply the basic elements of successful and efficient project planning and management in Planisware by providing your project with the necessary resources, finalising the timeline and making any adjustments to the project implementation which are necessitated by external influences.

 … Planning resources and capacities

Initially you will outline the existing capacities of your organisation in a visible and plannable way. The relevant factors here are the relevant working time models, holidays, absences and basic demands on capacity from line activities, for example.

With the aid of the Planisware tools and methodology you will learn how to master the typical challenges faced by project work within a matrix organisation. You will know how to respond to postponed deadlines and have the capacity utilisation of your organisation across all areas under control. This puts you in a position to provide efficient support for the strategic objectives of your company with the capacities of your organisation.

On the basis of bottleneck analyses and graphics-based evaluation of resource conflicts you will be able to experience at first-hand the interrelationships between line capacities and incorporate them into project planning, integrating the actual time involved and project progress.

  • Basic know-how relating to Planisware
  • Integrated project and resource planning – the professional entry to the seminar
  • Working within the project
    • Working with project templates as fixed standards
    • Detailed planning of the project with the aid of standard PM tools such as the project structure plan (PSP), network planning techniques (PERT), bar chart (Gantt) and critical path
    • Working with activity lists
    • Delegation of responsibility on the basis of work packages in Planisware
  • The basics of capacity planning in Planisware
    • Monitoring of resources and capacities as the basis for incorporating them in project planning
    • Capacity utilisation of the line organisation across projects
  • The interplay between project and resource planning under real conditions
    • Planning of resources, costs and yields
    • Project approval on the basis of baselines and budgets
    • Project follow-up, including integration of actual time involved, residual value planning (ETC), updating the project timeline, analysis of milestone trends, earned-value calculation
    • Following up changes in the availability of capacities in the line by integrating the actual time involved and changing the project planning on the basis of bottleneck analyses and the graphics-based evaluation of resource conflicts
    • Project status reporting, including presentations generated automatically from Planisware
    • Simulation of various scenarios by means of project versions
    • Administration of project documentation
    • Approvals and completion of the project on the basis of the Stage & Gate method

The seminar takes the form of classical classroom training with a strong focus on practical exercises. A fully developed business case provides the thread which illustrates how Planisware works, showing how the theory is put into effect.

As all participants work on the tool in a hands-on fashion, they need to bring a Wi-Fi capable computer. If this is not possible please contact us.
